Telehealth Care and Online Prescriptions

Connect with a clinician for convenient online care from home. Telehealth visits can support many general health needs, including symptom evaluation, treatment planning, medication questions, eligible prescription requests, prescription refills, and follow-up care.

Convenient Care Without an Unnecessary Office Visit

Telehealth gives patients another way to access care when an in-person examination is not required. During an online visit, a clinician can review your symptoms, health history, medications, allergies, and treatment goals. Based on that evaluation, the clinician can recommend treatment, discuss medication options, request testing, arrange follow-up, or direct you to in-person care when needed.

Prescription decisions are based on medical appropriateness and applicable prescribing requirements. A telehealth appointment does not guarantee that any particular medication will be prescribed.

What We Can Help With

Common Acute Concerns

Evaluation of many non-emergency symptoms and short-term health concerns that may be appropriate for virtual care.

Medication Management

Discuss treatment response, possible side effects, adherence, drug interactions, and questions about current medications.

Prescription Refills

Request review of an existing medication when continued treatment is clinically appropriate.

Ask about prescription treatment for an eligible condition after a clinician completes the required evaluation.

Follow-Up Care

Preventive Health Questions

Discuss screening, wellness, risk factors, and general health questions that can be addressed remotely.

How Telehealth Works

1. Request an Appointment

Use the online appointment form and tell us what you need help with. Include medication and pharmacy information if your visit involves a prescription or refill.

2. Complete Clinical Review

Your symptoms, medical history, allergies, current medications, and other relevant information are reviewed as part of the visit.

3. Meet With a Clinician

The clinician may ask additional questions and determine whether your condition can be managed through telehealth or requires in-person evaluation.

4. Receive a Care Plan

Your plan may include self-care guidance, prescription treatment when appropriate, testing, follow-up, or referral for in-person services.

Online Prescription and Refill Support

If medication may be appropriate, the clinician will review your medical history, current treatments, allergies, symptoms, and other relevant factors before making a prescribing decision. For refill requests, providing accurate information about the medication and your preferred pharmacy helps avoid unnecessary delays.

Before Your Visit

Have your medication bottles or medication list available, including the drug name, strength, directions, and prescribing history.

Preferred Pharmacy

Provide the pharmacy name, address, and phone number so an eligible prescription can be sent efficiently if approved.

Clinical Eligibility

Some medications or conditions may require examination, testing, documentation, or a different type of visit before prescribing.

Prescriptions are not automatic. The clinician determines whether medication is appropriate and whether telehealth satisfies the requirements for the specific treatment and patient location.

When Telehealth May Be Appropriate

  • Minor or moderate non-emergency symptoms
  • Medication questions
  • Eligible prescription renewals
  • Treatment follow-up
  • General health questions
  • Preventive care discussions
  • Review of previously diagnosed conditions
  • Care planning and referral guidance

Some health concerns cannot be evaluated safely online. If a physical examination, procedure, laboratory test, imaging study, or urgent assessment is needed, the clinician may recommend in-person care.

Telehealth FAQ

Can a clinician prescribe medication during a telehealth visit?

When medically appropriate and permitted under applicable requirements, a clinician may prescribe eligible medication after completing the necessary evaluation. Some medications or situations require additional steps or in-person care.

Can I get a prescription refill online?

Many refill requests can be reviewed through telehealth. The clinician may need details about the original prescription, your treatment response, recent monitoring, and your current health status.

Do I need to prepare anything for my appointment?

It is helpful to have your medication list, allergy information, medical history, recent test results if relevant, and your preferred pharmacy details ready.

What happens if telehealth is not appropriate for my condition?

You may be advised to schedule an in-person visit, obtain testing, or seek urgent or emergency care depending on the symptoms and clinical circumstances.

Is telehealth for emergencies?

No. Telehealth is not a substitute for emergency medical services. For a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
